ApocZ Future Development
Update [9/4/14]:
Hey Survivors,
As you know, Kevin has been inactive for the past month here on the forum. Last we heard of update 1.3 was vicinity chat, and that was on the 5th of August. We've been kind of in the dark since (including forum staff). Luckily the inactiveness on the forum has made for some exciting stuff for ApocZ's development as Kevin dropped by earlier yesterday and dropped some pretty exciting news in the Chat Box.
Sick Kreations is moving into a new office. Kevin is planning on assembling several desks to work with an artist on the new game engine, as well as a C# programmer to help with the game. In addition to that, Kevin has got his hands on a Wacom 24 Inch HD Touch Screen. This thing goes for $2,999, and looks incredible... Kevin means business! If you're currently in the middle of a zombie apocalypse, and are thinking of taking the easy way out, don't... Because thiswill blow your mind! The new piece of tech will be used for doing textures and normal maps on models!
With the Wacom Touch Screen, weapon models can be created from scratch instead of being bought through Turbo Squid (I'm not saying a springroll launcher is confirmed... but it's practically a given, because logic).
Didn't blow your mind completely? Still have some brain matter hanging out, and for some reason still keeping you alive? Well, tell that zombie outside your window that it's not for them, as this next thing will finish you off... and probably drop your jaw a bit because Kevin has "purchased a 3dsmax so we can write our own import for models and animations from motion cap.
... Yes, the thing where people put ping pong balls on their bodies, move around, and place those real life movements in-game, for a richer experience. For you techies out there, "previously, all our imports for 3dsmax was script, but now we have the SDK (software developers kit) for 3dsmax".
Kevin also touched on updating this (Update 1.3) thread, but is currently busy with life and has said that it's hard to talk about things when they're in a half done state. With the office move, hiring of people to work on the game, and life in general, hopefully you guys can be just a bit more patient as he is the person who has brought us this oh so lovely game, and without him, who knows if another developer would have brought a similar experience to the Xbox indie market, let alone the Xbox 360 itself. The wait is tough, but good things come to those who wait. Think of it like this. You're playing with a buddy and you want to take the stealthy approach to ambush a base full of survivors and your friend gets all like "watch this", then proceeds to stand up, book it towards the base, then gets shot and forever silenced by shame that he ruined a perfectly good plan had it been executed your way. Your friend was impatient, and died. You were not impatient, and cleaned up all of the kills as they were looting your dead friend's corpse.
This isn't to say you'll die if you're impatient about Update 1.3. 0_o
A few things to put the icing on the cake:
1. ApocZ XBLIG is still being developed at least to December this year.
2. Updates to buildings are still planned.
Hopefully you guys enjoyed that as much as I enjoyed drooling finding out about it.
Keep Surviving,
-Faulk
